Windows Server monitoring, with alerts that work out of the box.

If a Windows Server has a Termalin Connector, it is already monitored — the same monitoring as Linux, through the same connection. Once a minute Termalin reads its health figures with built-in Windows queries, draws them as charts, and tells you when something is wrong. No separate monitoring agent, no alert rules to write.

01  /  what is read

Read with built-in Windows queries.

There is no exporter to deploy. Termalin runs a few read-only CIM/WMI queries over the Connector’s existing link, once a minute:

  • ▸CPU — busy percentage.
  • ▸Memory and the page file.
  • ▸Fixed drives — space on each, with the system drive standing in for the root figure.
  • ▸Network throughput and disk traffic.
  • ▸Processes and uptime.

02  /  alerts

Alerts before you configure anything.

A Windows Server is watched by the same alert engine as Linux, with default thresholds you can change but don’t have to.

  • ▸Disk — a drive nearly full: warning at 90%, critical at 95%.
  • ▸Memory pinned for a sustained time.
  • ▸The server itself — restarted, or offline (after three minutes, so a reboot isn’t an alert).
  • ▸Quiet by default — one message when a problem opens and one when it clears, grouped, with a calm first day. Mute one kind of alert on one server, or a whole server.

03  /  channels

Where alerts go.

  • ▸Email — the default.
  • ▸Push to the iOS app.
  • ▸Telegram — one tap to connect the bot.
  • ▸Webhook — one that Slack and Discord accept as is, signed with HMAC-SHA256.

04  /  where you see it

In the cabinet and the desktop app.

  • ▸Web cabinet — open termal.in/account → Server metrics for each server’s dashboard.
  • ▸Desktop app — Settings → Account → Monitoring: an overview of every Connector server with 1h, 24h and 7d charts.
  • ▸History is kept 90 days on Pro and two years on Team — recent days in full detail, older ones as averages that keep each interval’s peak.

05  /  Linux-only checks

What Windows doesn’t have.

A few checks read Linux-specific sources and simply don’t apply on Windows: containers, failed systemd services, pressure (PSI), out-of-memory kills and load average. Everything else — the charts, the thresholds, the alert channels — is shared. For the full Linux picture, see server monitoring.

06  /  AI apps

“How is the Windows box doing?”

Through Termalin’s hosted MCP endpoint, Claude and ChatGPT read the same numbers and alerts: server_metrics returns the figures and alerts_list returns what is wrong right now. The answer comes from what monitoring has already collected, not a fresh command.

07  /  set up

One line, and it is watched.

Install the Connector on the Windows Server with one PowerShell line, and monitoring is on by default. The full setup — OpenSSH, PowerShell, port 22 kept closed — is on the Windows Server over SSH page.

Questions

Does it install a monitoring agent on the server?

No. Monitoring works through the server’s Connector — the same one you use for the terminal and remote desktop. Once a minute Termalin runs a few read-only CIM/WMI queries over the connection that is already open. There is no exporter, no second service, and no open port.

Which Windows versions are supported?

Windows 10 and 11, and Windows Server — any Windows machine with a Connector. It reads with the built-in Windows management queries, so it does not depend on anything you install.

What does it read?

CPU, memory and page file, the fixed drives (the system drive stands in for the root figure), network throughput, disk traffic, the process count and uptime. The Linux-only checks — containers, failed services, pressure (PSI), out-of-memory kills and load average — don’t apply on Windows.

Is it free?

It comes with Pro (90 days of history) and Team (two years), because it needs a Connector, which is a paid-plan feature. The 14-day Pro trial includes it. It is not on Free.

Does monitoring count against my storage?

No. Server metrics are kept separately and do not use your backup-and-recording storage pool.

Connect a Windows server, and it is watched.

One PowerShell line installs the Connector. Monitoring is on by default and alerts need no setup. New accounts get Pro free for 14 days.
