01  /  a real terminal on a phone

A full SSH terminal, not a stripped-down one.

Real SSH sessions in tabs, xterm-256color, and the terminal you already know. The trick on a phone is the keys a soft keyboard doesn’t have — so Termalin puts them in a scrolling row right above the keyboard.

• ▸The key row — Esc, Tab, a sticky Ctrl modifier, arrows, F1–F10 and the common control combos (^C, ^D, ^Z, ^L, ^R) plus shell symbols. The same set as the web terminal, so mc, htop, vim and Claude Code all drive properly.
• ▸A real Enter — a dedicated ⏎ sends a raw carriage return, so full-screen TUIs that read raw input don’t miss it the way the soft keyboard’s Return can.
• ▸iPad too — the same app runs full-size on iPadOS, with a hardware keyboard if you have one.

02  /  unlock & sync

Face ID to unlock. Your desktop setup, already there.

Set a master password once and unlock with Face ID or Touch ID after — no typing a long password on a phone keyboard every time (it stays reversible in Settings → Security). Turn on encrypted sync on Pro and the hosts, keys and snippets from your desktop app arrive on the phone, end-to-end encrypted — the server keeps only ciphertext. Files come along too: browse and edit remote files over SFTP, right in the app.

Your servers, a glance away.

Termalin uses the parts of iOS built for keeping an eye on things:

• ▸Live Activity & Dynamic Island — an active session shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and it updates on its own in the background when a Connector drops or comes back.
• ▸Home-screen widget — live CPU, memory and disk for your online servers, right on the home screen.
• ▸Server alerts — a push when one of your Connectors goes offline, and another when it comes back; short blips stay quiet.
• ▸Apple Watch — the Connector list with an online dot, and per-server CPU/memory/disk bars, load and uptime. A monitor, not a terminal.

04  /  honest limits

What the phone doesn’t do — and where the browser fills in.

The iOS app is a remote terminal, so two desktop features aren’t there: there’s no local shell (iOS has none to run) and no serial/COM. The Apple Watch app shows stats, not a shell. And there’s no native Android app — on Android, the browser cabinet at termal.in/account is a real terminal with SFTP and recordings, nothing to install. Everything else — tabs, SFTP, keys, recordings — is on the phone.
